Feeding and Supplements

Windfall Equestrian Center feeds excellent quality hay and provides hay to our horses as frequently as possible.  Small meals throughout the day is more natural to horses and is effective at preventing ulcers and colic.  Slow feeders are available in paddocks and pastures, and individual slow feeders are being built for all of the stalls.  Hay is a mixture of grasses and includes a small amount of alfalfa.  Our hay is grown in Glenwood City, Wisconsin and comes from the same farm and fields every time to keep our hay’s nutritional content consistent.  The small square bales are clean, dry, and stored indoors in our hayloft.

Windfall Equestrian Center offers a variety of Purina Equine Nutrition products to best fit the needs of your individual horse.  Each product is priced on a per-month basis, added to your monthly board bill.  Why Purina Equine Nutrition?  Click Here to learn more about how Purina feeds are precisely formulated for your horse’s age and lifestyle and to choose the feed that is right for your horse.

If these concentrate options are not suitable for your horse’s individual dietary needs, boarders are welcome to provide their own.  If boarders choose to provide their own, they are responsible for keeping it stocked and in a sealed container labeled with the horse’s name.

Boarders may request feed supplements to be fed to their horse along with their grain rations in either the AM, PM or both. Boarders must provide the feed supplements and label the container with the horse’s name. Containers must be clearly labeled and must be able to be easily sealed.  Boarders are responsible for keeping their supplement in stock, the stable staff is not responsible for notifying you if your supplements are getting low. Liquid supplements are not permitted without management approval.  There are no additional charges to feeding supplements along with their 2x daily concentrate feed.

If you would like to make a change to your horse’s feeding rations, please leave a note on the stable message board for our stable manager, and the stable management will make the changes to the horse’s feeding card. If the stable management would like to make a change to your horse’s feeding rations, we will either call you directly, or leave a note on your horse’s stall.
